Unwanted hair is one of the most common aesthetic concerns we treat — and one of the most satisfying to resolve. At Wasatch Integrative Medicine, we offer three distinct hair removal modalities, each with different mechanisms, strengths, and ideal candidates. Having all three available in one practice means we can match you with the right approach for your skin type, hair color, treatment area, and long-term goals — rather than fitting you into whatever a single-method clinic offers.
Whether you are looking for fast, permanent reduction across large body areas, precise elimination of individual hairs that laser cannot reach, or a light-based treatment that addresses both unwanted hair and skin tone concerns at the same time, we have a solution designed for you.
All hair removal services begin with a consultation so we can assess your candidacy, explain your options, and build a plan that gets you the results you are looking for.

DiolazeXL Laser Hair Removal
Diode Laser System
DiolazeXL is an advanced diode laser system designed for fast, comfortable, permanent hair reduction across large and small treatment areas. It is one of the most powerful laser hair removal systems available, with a large treatment head that allows full legs, back, or chest to be completed in 20–30 minutes. Built-in sapphire cooling keeps the skin comfortable throughout. DiolazeXL works best on dark hair and is suitable for a wide range of skin types. Most patients achieve significant, lasting results in 4–6 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart. For those tired of shaving, waxing, or dealing with ingrown hairs, DiolazeXL is typically the most efficient path to long-term smoothness.
Best For: Larger body areas, dark hair, patients seeking the fastest path to permanent reduction
electrolysis
Permanent Hair Removal
Electrolysis is the only FDA-recognized method of truly permanent hair removal. Where laser targets pigment in the hair follicle, electrolysis uses a fine probe to deliver a precisely targeted electrical current that permanently destroys each individual follicle — regardless of hair color. This makes electrolysis the definitive solution for light, blonde, gray, red, or white hair that laser technology cannot effectively treat. It is also the preferred option for hormonally driven facial hair, where laser stimulation can sometimes make the problem worse. Sessions are focused and methodical; full clearance takes a series of appointments, but the results are genuinely permanent.
Best For: Light, gray, red, or white hair; hormonally driven facial hair; patients seeking true permanent removal

Lumecca IPL
Intense Pulsed Light
Lumecca IPL is not a laser — it delivers broad-spectrum light energy that targets the pigment in hair follicles while simultaneously addressing skin tone concerns like sun damage, redness, broken capillaries, and hyperpigmentation. For patients whose hair removal goals come alongside a desire to improve overall skin clarity and radiance, Lumecca offers a meaningful two-for-one benefit. It works best on lighter skin tones with darker hair. While not typically used as a standalone hair removal solution for large body areas, it is a compelling option when skin rejuvenation and hair reduction are both part of the picture.
Best For: Patients who want hair reduction and skin tone improvement together; lighter skin tones with darker hair

frequently asked questions

is hair removal permanent?
It depends on the method. Electrolysis is the only modality recognized by the FDA as achieving true permanent hair removal — each treated follicle is permanently destroyed. DiolazeXL laser provides permanent hair reduction, meaning the vast majority of treated hair will not return, but some maintenance may be needed over time — particularly with hormonal changes. Lumecca IPL can reduce hair growth but is generally not used as a primary hair removal treatment.
How many sessions will i need?
Hair grows in cycles, and all energy-based hair removal methods only affect follicles in the active growth phase. This is why multiple sessions are required regardless of the method. DiolazeXL patients typically see significant results in 4–6 sessions. Electrolysis requires more appointments for full clearance, particularly on larger areas or areas with dense growth. Your provider will give you a realistic treatment timeline at your consultation.
Does Hair removal hurt?
DiolazeXL is one of the more comfortable laser systems available — built-in cooling minimizes discomfort, and most patients describe it as a mild warmth or snapping sensation. Electrolysis involves a brief, precise sensation at each follicle — tolerable for most, though sensitive areas may be more noticeable. Lumecca IPL feels similar to a warm flick against the skin. Discomfort levels vary by individual and treatment area.
I have had laser hair removal elsewhere and still have significant regrowth. Can you help?
Yes. We offer a 3-pack touch-up package through DiolazeXL specifically for patients who have had laser treatment elsewhere and need additional sessions to finish the job. Electrolysis is also an excellent complement for any remaining light or fine hairs that laser cannot target.
Can Men & Women both receive hair removal treatments?
Absolutely. We treat both men and women for all areas of the body. Common treatment areas for men include the back, chest, shoulders, and neck. Common areas for women include the legs, bikini and Brazilian, underarms, upper lip, and chin. Both DiolazeXL and electrolysis are equally effective regardless of gender.
What should i do to prepare for my appointment?
For DiolazeXL and IPL: shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid sun exposure, tanning products, and waxing or tweezing for 1–2 weeks prior. For electrolysis: allow a small amount of hair growth so the follicle can be properly targeted — do not wax or tweeze before your session.
Are there any reasons i would not be a candidate?
Laser and IPL are not effective on very light, gray, red, or white hair. Certain medications — including some antibiotics and acne medications — can increase sun sensitivity and may affect candidacy for laser or IPL. Active skin conditions, recent tanning, or certain medical implants may also be relevant factors. Electrolysis has very few contraindications and is an option for nearly everyone. Your consultation will cover your full health history to ensure we recommend the safest and most effective approach.
