red light therapy

red light therapy at Wasatch Integrative Medicine

light as medicine

FDA-cleared, medical-grade LED light therapy for hair restoration, skin rejuvenation, and acne treatment — each wavelength precisely calibrated to trigger specific cellular healing responses.

Photobiomodulation — the clinical term for red and near-infrared light therapy — works by delivering specific wavelengths of light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by mitochondria within cells. This triggers a cascade of healing effects: increased ATP production, enhanced collagen synthesis, reduced inflammation, and improved cellular repair.

At Wasatch IM, we offer two distinct medical-grade light therapy protocols: a 500-diode FDA-cleared scalp helmet for hair restoration and a multi-wavelength LED facial mask for comprehensive skin rejuvenation. Sessions are quick — just 10–12 minutes — with no discomfort, no recovery, and no downtime.

Red Light Therapy

frequently asked questions

is Red LIght Therapy safe for all skin types

Yes — red and near-infrared light therapy is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types and tones. Unlike UV-based treatments, these wavelengths do not damage DNA or increase skin cancer risk. The blue light used for acne treatment is also well-tolerated across all skin types at therapeutic intensities.

When Will I see Results for hair growth?

Hair growth is a slow biological process. Most patients begin noticing reduced shedding within 4–6 weeks, with visible new growth emerging over 3–6 months of consistent treatment. The hair growth cycle means patience and consistency are essential. We recommend photographing your scalp under consistent lighting at the start of treatment to track progress.

Can I combine Red Light Therapy with other Treatments?

Absolutely — red light therapy pairs exceptionally well with most other skin and hair treatments. It's commonly combined with microneedling (to enhance collagen induction), IV therapy (for systemic antioxidant support), and topical treatments. If you're receiving other in-office procedures, your provider can advise on optimal sequencing.

Do I need to come in every day?

For accelerated results, 3–5 sessions per week is ideal during the initial protocol. However, even 2–3 weekly sessions will produce meaningful improvement over time. Given the $15 per-session cost, many patients find frequent visits entirely feasible. After reaching your desired results, monthly maintenance sessions are typically sufficient.
