Microcurrent at Wasatch Integrative Medicine
The Science of Cellular Healing

Microcurrent Therapy harnesses the body's own bioelectric language - delivering sub-sensory electrical impulses that signal tissues to repair, reduce inflammation, and renew.
Every cell in your body communicates through electrical signals. When tissue is damaged or inflamed, those signals become disrupted. Microcurrent Therapy works by delivering ultra-low electrical currents - measured in millionths of an ampere - that closely mirror the body's own bioelectric frequencies, restoring normal cellular communication and dramatically accelerating the healing process.
Unlike other electrical therapies, microcurrent operates below the sensory threshold. Most patients feel nothing more than a gentle tingling or simply deep relaxation as the body begins to rebalance. Sessions are non-invasive, pain-free, and require no recovery time.

key benefits
unique Expertise
Our microcurrent therapy provider is both a registered nurse and certified microcurrent technician - the only provider holding this dual credential in the state of Utah. Her clinical training allows her to integrate microcurrent into complex care plans with a level of precision and safety that goes beyond aesthetic applications.
Cellular ATP Production
Research demonstrates that microcurrent can increase ATP (the cell's energy currency) production by up to 500%, directly fueling cellular repair and regeneration processes.
Protein Synthesis
Microcurrent stimulates the production of collagen and elastin - the structural proteins that form the foundation of healthy tissue, tendons, fascia, and skin.
Anti-Inflammatory
By modulating cytokine activity at the cellular level, microcurrent can reduce chronic inflammation that is unresponsive to conventional treatments.
Mitochondrial Enhancement
Treatment improves local blood flow and lymphatic drainage, flushing metabolic waste and delivering oxygen and nutrients to damaged tissues.
Non-Invasive & Pain-Free
No needles, no incisions, no anesthesia required. The treatment is conducted through surface electrodes with sensations ranging from imperceptible to pleasantly warm.

frequently asked questions

Is microcurrent the same as TENS?
No — they are fundamentally different. TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) uses milliamp-level currents that you can feel, primarily to block pain signals. Microcurrent operates at microamp levels — one-thousandth the intensity — that mirror the body's own bioelectric field. Rather than overriding pain signals, microcurrent works with your cells to repair the underlying tissue damage.
How soon will i notice results?
Many patients notice meaningful changes during or immediately after their first session — reduced pain, improved range of motion, or a significant sense of calm. For chronic conditions, results typically build progressively across a series of sessions. Consistency is key; we generally recommend a series of 6–12 treatments for lasting outcomes.
Are there contraindications?
Microcurrent is contraindicated for patients with implanted electrical devices (pacemakers, stimulators), during pregnancy, and over active cancer sites. Because our practitioners are medically trained, all potential contraindications are screened thoroughly during intake. If you have any concerns, please call us before booking.
How is this different from a med spa offering microcurrent facials?
Microcurrent facials use low-level current primarily for cosmetic muscle toning. What we offer is clinical, frequency-specific microcurrent — a medically grounded therapeutic protocol administered by a certified RN trained in its systemic healing applications. Our focus is on deep tissue repair, neurological modulation, and clinical pain relief — not aesthetics.
